I live in Michigan with my wonderful husband of 32 years. I have always dreamed of having time to write, and am very grateful to have it now that I have an empty nest. I love to write about beautiful things that matter to me, and hope you will be encouraged and blessed by what I share.

  3. Dearest Deborah,
    Oh my, we would have to fight over those white roses I guess... or visit each other so both would be able to enjoy them. Unfortunately we lost almost ALL of our white and highly fragrant rose bushes during two extremely hot and dry summers. I keep a storage closet for vases in our Rose Suite downstairs and it is painful looking at them, sitting there idle. Even a single rose I would keep on a fancy recycled bottle, from some Italian balsamico or whatever. I always saw some use for them and it looked so pretty, having them scattered all over the house...
    It is even hard for me to make photos without the use of some roses from the garden, for listing things on my website...
    Oh, a good book, legs tucked under in my leather chair with the halogen reading light above and I'm gone... Yes, we too have a fake log fire from gas, built into our Dutch stove that we did bring over. It is smaller size so those logs could not all get placed inside but the effect is the same; cozy and romantic!
    Baking things for loved ones is so rewarding! Have done it even as a child; pre-teen as a surprise for my Mom's birthday I baked her favorite ginger cake... Got reprimanded by my Dad when he caught me doing it but it was worth it! I went to bad with such wonderful feeling of satisfaction.
    So happy for having found your blog and did you know that the first state I ever visited was Michigan? Even flying in from Chicago, we did go straight to Michigan where I got shown around while my husband did conduct a seminar for Campbell Soup's mushroom people. Lake Michigan in April and all the geese on those corn fields... Fond memories! Have to write once a blog post about it.

    You had me with...I re-read Anne of Green Gables every once in a while! I put myself through my Anne books every year, to bring beauty back into my life, to remind me to live old-fashioned values in a world that increasingly eschews them, and most of all, to breathe life into my spirit when I am down and weary. I've just begun reading your blog, and I plan to visit often.
