October tea

October 26, 2015

Anne reveled in the world of color about her.

"Oh, Marilla," she exclaimed one Saturday morning, coming dancing in with her arms full of gorgeous boughs, "I'm so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers. It would be terrible if we just skipped from September to November, wouldn't it? Look at these maple branches. Don't they give you a thrill--several thrills?”

-- L.M. Montgomery, Anne of Green Gables

Royal Albert October teacup, Cosmos

Coming home from Hawaii to these beautiful fall colors softens the blow a little bit.

Quite a change from this . . .

and this . . .

We went snorkeling here, another first and a highlight of our trip.

But I'm not going to complain, not when I can see this out my front door.

  2. I know you had such a great time in Hawaii, but there's no place like home! Enjoy your gorgeous Fall beauty in Michigan, my friend!
p.s. I went snorkeling for the first time a couple of years ago in Mexico and loved it!

  3. Hi Deb, what a wonderful trip you must have had! Love your October teacup. Cosmos are one of my favorite annuals, so easy to grow from seed in our short summers. I just got back from a few days visiting the Petoskey area. It was a beautiful drive from the UP with all the color! My sister and I stayed at the Stafford Bay View Inn in Petoskey. I recommend it if your ever in the area. Beautiful!

  4. Glad you enjoyed your trip, Deborah, and I must say that right about now, I would very much love to be walking along that beautiful beach. Our summer was way too short this year and we're feeling a little jipped. But those colourful leaves are a splendid sight, aren't they? Love your Cosmos cup. I have been using mine all month. It's always lovely to have you join me for tea. Have a wonderful week.

    Autumn blessings,
    Sandi

  5. Beautiful Deborah, I'm so happy you had such a wonderful time and are back home safe and sound.
I love your images with the beautiful RA October teacup. I treasure my teacup and saucer because I inherited one from my dearest Mil as she also was an October gal, as I am.
    Have a lovely week.

  12. Dearest Deborah,
Yes, it is quite a contrast for coming home from the tropics to an advanced fall.
But as you said, those beautiful red maple leaves make up more than for the difference in temperature and such.
Enjoy this stage and keep the fond memories from Hawaii. That was a blessing in many ways; glad you both had a great time.
    Hugs,
    Mariette

  16. Hi Deborah, I would hate to skip October too. Your view is gorgeous and your October cup is a treasure. I love seeing your fall trees. Not much of that here in Texas. Love your photos from your trip but so glad they were replaced with the gorgeous colors of October for you to come home too.
Wishing you a wonderful autumn day!! Blessings xo

  20. What a lovely homage to October, one of my favorite months. The colors from my window are absolutely magnificent this year. I can sit and stare at them for hours. I will miss October. It's the lull before the holiday storm. Have been remiss in reading your posts for the last few weeks. Busy time for me. Lots to catch up with and look forward to doing so.

    Cheers, M-T

  22. Hi Deborah,
Your Royal Albert October Cosmos teacup is so lovely. I have it too and recently found the tea plate. Love your autumn colours in the background and so glad you had a little getaway to Hawaii. A change is such a good rest and the vitamin D is what I crave right now with our cooler weather. For sure, it is hard to leave Hawaii but there's no place like home. Happy Tea Day Sweet Deborah! 24. The very best part of any trip is coming home again! But yes, coming home to autumn's glory is a gentler way to leave such a lovely place where you were.

That is one of my favorite Anne quotes!

Those photos from Hawaii are quite wondrous.
